From the desk of Flawsophy's Evil Twin ...

Parents and other adults may get all delighted and look with eyes filled with irrational adoration when they watch their babies sing, dance or say cute-yet-smart things but from my observations, the real success of careers as babies depends on one and only one thing: their ability to begin crying upon their will.  Yes, generations after generations, the successful toddler has always been the one who managed to usurp his elder brother’s toy train by putting on a classy make-believe crying performance that makes his mother scream at the bigger child, “Will you lose anything if you let your little brother play with it for a while? What did we tell you about sharing your stuff? “.

I don't care what you think but I simply refuse to buy the idea that every baby-cry is sincere. The real pros can always spot the difference between the genuine cry when it’s hungry and the fake-cry when it’s bored of its own toys and wants some more candy. In fact, look closely … look at those eyes  … did you catch them wink? … I am telling you, each time, they wink coquettishly just to tease you after every successful fake-cry spell. Oh boy, they are very good at fooling us. So, contrary to what it may seen, these tots don’t care so much about their precocious ability to sing or dance. That stuff may be reserved for the  attention-craving years of the youth and beyond.  They are naturally cute and they already GOT the attention. Now, it’s time to get the stuff they want. As far as, babies go, their political philosophy is strict utilitarianism. Straight up from the John Stuart Mill school, no one less. Got that?

Of course, like all in careers, not every baby is good at this make-believe crying. Some babies are great. Some simply suck. I don’t know why but it’s probably a genetic thing. As a child, I was completely hopeless. I used to start crying for some shiny object and my mom used to say, “Awww … He is feel sleepy and is getting cranky”. She’d prepare the cradle and put me in it. And I used to think, “Ah! Screw it. What the hell”.  I never showed any determination as a kid but hey, in my defense, those cradle naps were totally worth it.

No wonder I felt very sleepy reading this post. My parents who watched me read this did not understand if I was reading, having a head-ache, meditating or sleeping! Me neither ;-)

On a different note, itseems when I cried my Dad used to take me on long drives on his bicycle, if he is home, and tell me manyyyy things. My Mom still complains that he never did this with my brothers. My Dad just says that they were not as keen and attentive. Ofcourse all girls must be keen and attentive listening to their Dad :)

Ok I was just kidding there. It was definitely not any girl-boy thing. Most probably the pure advantage of me being the first-born. After me, Dad did not seem to take out much time to take my brothers around...

Yeah most probably I did :) I also feel blessed to get that opportunity :)

And children usually are in the pay-back mode as parents age. But its not always possible to pay back everything we take, especially to parents. If there is one thing I really wish, it is to restore that energy and peace of mind, as much as possible, back to them :)

HMM ... that's a nice way to put it ... " to restore that energy and peace of mind, as much as possible, back to them " ...
